What a week!

We have had quite a week at the Mayfield's! The beginning of the week consisted of painting and decorating Elijah's room (pictures to come soon). Wednesday, I woke up with the worst headache and sore throat I have ever experienced. About the time I started to recover, Elijah came down with some sort of stomach something! Thankfully we are all better now and so far Wes and Zeke have avoided it all!

Blogging Take 2

Ok, I'm going to try this whole thing again...who knows if I will be able to keep it up, but we'll give it a try!
We have had a super busy summer full of swimming, parks, trips to Springfield, and lots of fun with students. Now that the students have all started school things are starting to get into a better routine.
AWANA started last week. Elijah has memorized several verses already and is loving being a Cubbie! Zeke is a proud Puggle and can list off a ton of things God has made. We only had one little misstep when we were learning "All have sinned" at the same time as "God loves us" and ended up with "God has sinned." But I think we got that cleared up!
The church's new Family Life Center is almost complete. Once we can start using it, Wes has some really exciting things planned for the youth. We will be doing small groups on Sunday mornings. Wes and I will both be small group leaders as well as about half a dozen other adults. I will also be leading worship during the large group time as well as during youth on Sunday nights. Last month I started singing with our church's praise teams during morning worship. We are busy, but we love it.
With the start of school, we have started homeschooling preschool with the boys. Elijah is loving the fact that everything we do is school. Earlier this week we were in Springfield and visited Wilson's Creek Battlefield and had a fun history lesson. They are just so eager to learn. They challenge me everyday!

Elsie Challenge

This is the first scrapbooking I have done since we moved 3 months ago! Elsie's challenge to write about how I have evolved in 2007 inspired me to get back into it! The journaling says...

In a box
What if they see me?
Afraid to fall
Grieving...Changing...Growing
Free
Not afraid anymore
Alive
Able to be me

I've grown so much this year. I think the biggest change has been just being more comfortable in just being who I am...who God has made me...learning to just be happy being Sara.

2007

Some memorable events from 2007...
Zeke was 1 year old. Elijah turned 3.
In January, we had a huge ice storm in Springfield and lost power for over a week. We spent that time at my parent's house with them and my cousin Robbie and his family.
Wes and I both worked for Saladmaster Healthy Cooking Center.
In July, my grandma "Mimi" started having seizures, spent about 5 days in the hospital before passing away on July 31. This was by far one of the hardest times of my life. I miss Mimi more than I ever imagined possible.
In August and September, Wes began talking to several churches about youth ministry positions. After much prayer and lots of talking, we moved to Maryville, MO at the end of September.
And that's where we are now...serving God at First Baptist Church, Maryville. It's been a hard year, but it's been a good year. Only God can make those two words go together so well!
